Agenemists

Agenemists are a specialized group of individuals who advocate for the abolition of all government and political authority, promoting the idea of a stateless society. The term derives from the Latin "a-" meaning "without" and "gene" meaning "to produce" or "bring into being," implying a stance against the creation or maintenance of political institutions.

Historically, agenemist philosophy is rooted in anarchist thought, emphasizing voluntary cooperation and individual sovereignty. Agenemists argue that governments inherently lead to coercion, inequality, and suppression of individual freedoms. They believe that social order can be achieved through decentralized, non-coercive means such as mutual aid, voluntary associations, and spontaneous order.

Agenemists differ from other anarchists primarily in their explicit rejection of the state as a necessary or beneficial institution. While many anarchist traditions focus on reform or gradual change, agenemists advocate for the complete dismantling of all hierarchical structures. They promote the idea that voluntary association and personal autonomy are sufficient for social organization, emphasizing non-violent and consensual interactions.

The movement remains largely theoretical, with limited organized groups actively campaigning under the agenemist label. Nonetheless, agenemism contributes to broader discussions within anarchist and libertarian thought regarding the nature of authority, freedom, and social organization. Scholars and activists often view agenemists as part of the larger spectrum of anti-authoritarian philosophies seeking to create a society based on voluntary and autonomous relationships free from coercive government structures.
