Aerotitan

Aerotitan is a genus of azhdarchid pterosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous period in what is now North America. The name Aerotitan means "air titan" in reference to its large size and the Greek titan. The type species, Aerotitan magnus, was described in 2018 based on a partial skeleton including wing bones, vertebrae, and ribs.

Fossil evidence suggests Aerotitan was a large pterosaur, with an estimated wingspan of up to 10 meters. Like other azhdarchids, it likely possessed a long neck and beak, and a relatively small body. These creatures were adapted for aerial locomotion and are believed to have been predators, feeding on small vertebrates and fish. Their fossils have been found in geological formations dating to the Campanian age of the Late Cretaceous.

The discovery of Aerotitan adds to our understanding of azhdarchid diversity and distribution. It indicates that large pterosaurs were present in North America alongside other prominent fauna of the time. The evolutionary relationships of Aerotitan within the azhdarchid family are still being studied, but it is considered a significant find for paleontologists investigating the Mesozoic era.
