Adverbaalilauseen
Adverbaalilauseen is the Finnish term for adverbial clauses. In linguistic terms, an adverbial clause is a subordinate clause that modifies a main clause by providing circumstantial information about the action or state described, such as time, place, cause, purpose, condition, or manner. In Finnish syntax, adverbaalilauseet are usually introduced by subordinating conjunctions and contain their own finite verb form, agreeing with the tense or mood of the context. They are typically set off from the main clause by a comma, especially when they precede the main clause.

- Cause: Koska satoi, jäin sisälle. (Because it was raining, I stayed indoors.)
- Purpose: Hän opiskeli, jotta pääsisi kokeesta. (He studied so that he could pass the exam.)
- Condition: Jos hän tulee, me lähdemme. (If he comes, we will leave.)
- Concession: Vaikka hän oli väsynyt, hän jatkoi. (Although he was tired, he continued.)
- Result: Hän juoksi niin nopeasti, että ehti bussille. (He ran so fast that he caught the bus.)
