Admittanzfunktion

Admittanzfunktion is a concept in electrical engineering and physics that describes the ease with which an electrical current can flow through a component or system. It is the reciprocal of impedance, meaning Admittanzfunktion = 1 / Impedance. Impedance, on the other hand, represents the total opposition to current flow, encompassing both resistance and reactance.

The unit of admittanz is Siemens (S), named after German engineer Werner von Siemens. Admittanz is a complex quantity, just like impedance, and consists of two parts: conductance and susceptance. Conductance represents the real part of admittanz and corresponds to energy dissipation (like resistance). Susceptance represents the imaginary part and corresponds to energy storage in electric or magnetic fields (like reactance).

Admittanz is particularly useful when analyzing parallel circuits. In a parallel circuit, the admittanz of the overall circuit is the sum of the admittanz of individual components, which is often simpler than summing their impedances. This property makes admittanz analysis a powerful tool for designing and understanding complex electrical networks, especially in fields like radio frequency engineering and power systems.
