Adatharmonizáció

Adatharmonizáció, sometimes translated as data harmonization, is the process of bringing together data from different sources so that it can be used together in a consistent and comparable way. This is crucial in many fields, particularly in scientific research, business intelligence, and public administration, where data often exists in disparate silos. The core challenge lies in the fact that different datasets may use different terminology, units of measurement, or data structures, making direct comparison or aggregation impossible without intervention.

The process typically involves several steps. First, it requires identifying and understanding the different data sources and their respective schemas or formats. Then, a common data model or ontology is established to serve as a reference point. Data from each source is then mapped to this common model. This mapping involves transforming data values, standardizing units, resolving conflicting entries, and potentially enriching the data with additional information.
