Adatbázismodellezés refers to the process of creating a conceptual representation of data and its relationships within a database. This modeling process is a crucial step in database design, ensuring that data is organized efficiently, consistently, and can be easily accessed and managed. It involves defining the structure, content, and relationships of the data to be stored.

There are several types of database models, each with its own way of organizing data. The most common ones include the relational model, which organizes data into tables with rows and columns; the hierarchical model, which organizes data in a tree-like structure; and the network model, which allows more complex relationships than the hierarchical model by using a graph structure. More recently, NoSQL models have emerged, offering flexible schemas for handling large volumes of unstructured or semi-structured data.

The process of database modeling typically involves several stages. It begins with conceptual modeling, where the main entities and their relationships are identified, often represented using Entity-Relationship Diagrams (ERDs). This is followed by logical modeling, which translates the conceptual model into a specific database model (e.g., relational tables and columns). Finally, physical modeling defines how the data will be stored on disk, considering factors like indexing and data types. Effective database modeling leads to improved data integrity, reduced redundancy, and enhanced performance for database applications.
