Actiepunt

An actiepunt, from Dutch, literally translates to “action point” and refers to a task that arises from a meeting or deliberation and is assigned to an individual or team to be completed by a specified due date. In Dutch-language organizations it is commonly used to ensure follow-up on decisions and discussions.

Typically an actiepunt includes a concise description of the task, an owner (verantwoordelijke), a due date, and a status (open, in progress, completed). Action points are usually recorded in meeting minutes or project tracking systems. The person designated as owner is responsible for reporting progress and completing the task.

Action points differ from decisions (besluiten) and from agenda items (agendapunten): a besluit records a chosen outcome, while an actiepunt records work to be done. Some organizations also distinguish between urgent action points and longer-term follow-ups; some use a unique number or code for each item.

In practice, actiepunten are common in the Netherlands and Flemish Belgium; they are used in corporate, governmental, and nonprofit contexts. With digital collaboration, many teams track actiepunten in project management software, shared documents, or agenda tools, linking them to responsible persons, due dates, and evidence of completion.
