Acortarse

Acortarse is a reflexive verb in Spanish meaning "to shorten" or "to become shorter." It is commonly used in both literal and figurative contexts to describe a reduction in length, duration, or extent.

In its most direct sense, acortarse refers to a physical decrease in size. For example, shadows acortarse as the sun rises higher in the sky, and days acortarse as winter approaches. The verb can also apply to objects, such as a piece of fabric that might acortarse after being washed.
