Ablösende is a German term that translates to "replacing," "displacing," or "succeeding" in English. It is often used in legal contexts, particularly in contract law and property law. In contract law, ablösende can refer to a situation where one obligation replaces another. For example, if a debtor owes a sum of money, and later agrees to transfer a specific asset to the creditor instead of the cash, the transfer of the asset would be considered ablösende for the original monetary obligation. This signifies a complete substitution of the previous debt with a new one.

In property law, the concept of ablösende can appear in relation to encumbrances or rights. For instance, if a property is subject to a mortgage, and a new mortgage is taken out that fully repays the old one, the new mortgage is ablösende to the previous one.
