Abiootilise

Abiootilise is a coined term used to describe the act or process of removing or suppressing biological activity from a system, with the aim of creating or maintaining an abiotic (non-living) environment. As a verb it would refer to actions that reduce life-supporting biotic processes, or to converting a biotic system into one governed primarily by abiotic factors.

The term does not appear in standard scientific nomenclature and is largely encountered in speculative writing, thought experiments, or fiction. It is occasionally used in discussions about hypothetical planetary rehabilitation, sterilization of environments, or experimental simulations where researchers seek to study abiotic drivers in isolation from living organisms.

Because abiootilise is not widely standardized, its exact scope is unsettled and usage varies. In practice, related concepts include sterilization or decontamination (to eliminate biological agents) and ecological restoration (to reestablish a biotic state), whereas abiootilise emphasizes the removal or suppression of biotic influence rather than the deliberate introduction or removal of life per se.
