Abfallnummern, also known as waste codes or European Waste Catalogue (EWC) codes, are a standardized system used in the European Union to classify and manage different types of waste. This system ensures consistent identification and tracking of waste materials across member states, facilitating proper disposal, recycling, and hazardous waste management. Each Abfallnummer is a six-digit code, with the first two digits representing the chapter, the next two the specific waste type, and the last two indicating a sub-category.
