Aamalarda

Aamalarda is a small rural settlement located in the southwestern region of the province of Khuzestan, Iran. The village lies approximately 25 kilometres northwest of the provincial capital Ahvaz and is positioned on the fertile plains bordering the Karun River. Administratively, Aamalida forms part of the Central District of Ahvaz County and is incorporated within the rural district of Gharbi.

According to the most recent national census conducted in 2016, Aamalarda had a population of 842 residents living in 176 families. The majority of inhabitants are ethnic Arabs and Lurs, and the primary language spoken is a local Arabic dialect, with Persian used for official and educational purposes. The local economy is based largely on agriculture, with wheat, barley, and various vegetables cultivated on irrigated fields, while some households engage in livestock husbandry and small‑scale fishing in the nearby river.

Historically, the village developed during the early 20th century as a seasonal settlement for nomadic herders who eventually adopted a sedentary lifestyle. Aamalarda contains a modest mosque dating from the 1930s, which serves as both a place of worship and a community gathering point. In recent years, the village has seen limited infrastructural improvements, including the introduction of electricity, a primary school, and a health post, contributing to gradual enhancements in living standards.
