AUVt

AUVt stands for Autonomous Underwater Vehicle. It is a robotic vehicle that operates underwater without a human pilot onboard. AUvs are equipped with a variety of sensors and navigation systems that allow them to autonomously complete pre-programmed missions. These missions can include tasks such as mapping the seafloor, inspecting underwater infrastructure, conducting scientific research, or military surveillance.

AUvs come in various shapes and sizes, ranging from small, torpedo-like vehicles to larger, more complex platforms. Their propulsion systems can include propellers, thrusters, or even fins, depending on the specific design and intended application. Power is typically supplied by batteries, which limit their operational endurance. Navigation is achieved through a combination of inertial navigation systems (INS), GPS (when surfaced), acoustic positioning systems, and sonar.

The development of AUvs has opened up new possibilities for exploring and interacting with the underwater environment, which is largely inaccessible to humans. They offer advantages over remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) in that they do not require a tether to a surface vessel, allowing for greater maneuverability and deployment in remote or hazardous locations. The data collected by AUvs is invaluable for fields such as oceanography, marine biology, geology, and defense.
