AT4R

AT4R, also known as AT4 recoiless rifle, is a Swedish-designed, single-shot, man-portable, disposable recoilless anti-tank weapon. Developed by Saab Bofors Dynamics, it entered service in the early 1990s. The AT4R is designed for use by infantry against armored targets, as well as other battlefield threats such as fortifications and personnel. It is a versatile weapon, capable of being fired from confined spaces.

The AT4R system consists of a smoothbore, 84 mm caliber launcher and a high-explosive, dual-purpose (HEDP) rocket. The HEDP warhead is designed to penetrate armor and then detonate, causing further damage to the interior of a vehicle. It can also be effective against soft targets and structures. The weapon is operated by a single soldier and is designed for immediate use.

The AT4R has seen widespread adoption by numerous armed forces around the world, including those of the United States, Sweden, and many NATO allies. Its simplicity of operation, effectiveness, and relatively low cost have contributed to its popularity. Different variants of the AT4R exist, offering specialized warheads for anti-armor, anti-personnel, and anti-structure roles. The weapon is typically fired from the shoulder, with a direct-fire optical sight for aiming. After firing, the launcher is discarded.
