ANR is commonly implemented in consumer headphones, ear protectors, and aviation headsets, and is often used in combination with passive insulation for greater effectiveness. Terminology can vary by manufacturer, with some using “active noise cancellation” (ANC) or “active noise control” as synonymous terms.
