AMPn

AMPn is an open, decentralized framework designed to enable adaptive messaging and distributed processing across heterogeneous networks, from edge devices to cloud data centers. The name AMPn stands for Adaptive Messaging and Processing network. It provides a runtime for lightweight agents that can migrate between nodes, exchange events, and trigger local computations in response to external stimuli.

Its architecture comprises a core protocol stack, an agent framework, and a node orchestration layer. The core protocol handles asynchronous message routing, pub-sub channels, and versioned schemas. The agent framework defines a sandboxed execution environment for small computational units, while the orchestration layer coordinates mobility, resource negotiation, and fault tolerance across the network.

Security and privacy features include end-to-end encryption of messages, attestation for agent code integrity, and fine-grained access controls. AMPn also supports policy-based data minimization and provenance tracking to facilitate auditing and compliance in multi-tenant deployments.

Applications span distributed IoT, smart city infrastructures, and research in edge AI. Adoption is primarily at the research and pilot project stage, with implementations demonstrated in experimental platforms and open-source projects. The framework is designed to be interoperable with existing messaging standards and can be extended through modular transports and agent libraries.
