Alexa is a virtual assistant developed by Amazon, first released in 2014 with the Echo line of smart speakers. Recordings may be stored and used to improve services unless the user deletes them or disables certain settings. Users can review and delete voice history, enable or disable voice recordings, mute the microphone, and create voice profiles to tailor responses. Amazon provides privacy controls and transparency tools to manage data usage.

Alexa is available in multiple languages and regions, with features varying by country. It depends on cloud processing and requires an internet connection to function; offline capabilities are limited. As with other voice assistants, it has faced concerns about data collection and security, though controls exist to manage privacy and usage.
