AIFM1
AIFM1, also known as apotosis-inducing factor, mitochondrial, is a protein encoded by the AIFM1 gene. It plays a critical role in programmed cell death, also known as apoptosis. AIFM1 is a flavoprotein that is localized in the mitochondria. During apoptosis, AIFM1 is translocated from the mitochondria to the nucleus, where it participates in DNA fragmentation and chromatin condensation, key events in cell dismantling.
Beyond its role in apoptosis, AIFM1 is also involved in other cellular processes. It has been implicated
