It signals that the product mimics certain properties of AFFF without necessarily meeting a formal designation.

Such foams typically rely on fluorinated surfactants to spread rapidly over hydrocarbon fuels and to form a persistent aqueous film that helps suppress vapors and prevent re-ignition.
