ACOGs

Advanced Combat Optical Gunsights, commonly known as ACOGs, are a line of magnified combat optics manufactured by Trijicon. They are designed to provide a higher level of aiming precision for rifle and carbine platforms, especially at medium ranges. Unlike traditional variable-power scopes, most ACOGs feature a fixed magnification, typically ranging from 1.5x to 6x. This fixed magnification simplifies operation and enhances durability, as there are fewer moving parts.

A key feature of ACOGs is their illumination system. Many models utilize a dual illumination system, combining a tritium vial for a self-powered, low-light aiming reticle with a fiber optic light collector that gathers ambient light to brighten the reticle in daylight conditions. This ensures the reticle is visible across a wide spectrum of lighting situations without the need for batteries. The reticles themselves are often sophisticated, featuring bullet drop compensating (BDC) stadia lines designed for specific ammunition types and calibers.

ACOGs are renowned for their rugged construction. They are typically built from forged aluminum housing and are designed to withstand harsh environmental conditions and significant abuse.
