747400 BCF (sometimes written (747400) BCF) is a numbered minor planet that orbits the Sun in the inner region of the asteroid belt. The object was first observed on 15 January 2012 by the Pan‑STARRS survey at Hale Alama in Hawaii. The provisional designation assigned to it at the time of discovery was P2012 BCF, reflecting the discovery week and sequence. After a series of follow‑up observations that helped refine its orbit, the Minor Planet Center assigned the permanent number 747400 in 2015. The asteroid has not yet been given an official name.

The orbit of 747400 BCF is moderately eccentric, with a perihelion distance of roughly 1.8 AU and an aphelion distance near 2.9 AU. It has a semi‑major axis of about 2.35 AU and a period of approximately 3.6 years. The inclination with respect to the ecliptic is modest, around 5°. According to spectral classification from photometric surveys, the asteroid is consistent with a C‑type (carbonaceous) composition, although detailed spectroscopic data are still pending.

The absolute magnitude of the asteroid is H = 18.3, which, assuming an albedo typical of C‑type bodies (around 0.05), implies a diameter of roughly 400 meters. It is a typical main‑belt asteroid with no known significant perturbations from major planets. Further observations, particularly in the infrared, are expected to refine both its size and albedo.
