In a 5Gfixed setup, a cellular base station transmits a wireless link to a Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) installed at the subscriber site, replacing or supplementing traditional wired connections.

The service relies on 5G New Radio (NR) with beamforming and advanced antenna arrays (MIMO) to send signals over licensed spectrum. Depending on deployment, it uses sub-6 GHz bands for broader coverage or millimeter-wave bands for higher peak speeds, with trade-offs in range and penetration.
