2CELLOS

2Cellos is a Croatian cello duo formed in Zagreb in 2009 by Stjepan Hauser and Luka Šulić. The two classically trained musicians began performing together as students and soon developed a repertoire that blends classical technique with contemporary styles. They gained international recognition in 2011 after posting a cover of Michael Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal” to YouTube, a video that attracted millions of views and helped launch a recording career with Sony Masterworks.

With the label, they released their self-titled debut album, 2Cellos, in 2011, featuring instrumental arrangements of rock and pop songs performed on two cellos. 2Cellos is known for high-energy performances that fuse virtuosic cello playing with crossover arrangements for pop, rock, and film music, often accompanied by orchestras or backing musicians. Their repertoire includes covers of artists such as AC/DC, U2, and Nirvana, alongside original compositions and collaborations.

Their discography also includes In2ition (2012), Celloverse (2015), and Score (2017), each expanding their crossover approach and incorporating orchestral elements. They have toured worldwide, performed with major orchestras, and appeared on television programs, further establishing themselves as one of Croatia’s best-known contemporary musical acts. The duo continues to record and perform, preserving a distinctive niche in the crossover of classical and popular music.
