17473 is a minor planet in the asteroid belt, discovered on September 24, 1990, by astronomers Eleanor F. Helin and Kenneth J. Lawrence at the Palomar Observatory in California, United States. It is part of the Flora family of asteroids, which are believed to have originated from a single parent body that was shattered by a collision. The asteroid has an estimated diameter of about 5.5 kilometers and orbits the Sun with a semi-major axis of approximately 2.2 astronomical units (AU), completing one orbit every 3.3 years. Its orbit has an eccentricity of 0.12 and an inclination of 4.1 degrees relative to the ecliptic plane. The spectral type of 17473 is S-type, indicating that it has a stony composition. The asteroid's rotation period is approximately 5.5 hours. As of now, no moons have been discovered orbiting 17473.
