Õuntes, also known as 'õhtulilled' or 'evening primroses', is a genus of plants native to the Americas. The genus includes around 800 species, with many popular varieties cultivated for their ornamental value. The most common species cultivated is Oenothera biennis, commonly referred to as the common evening primrose. These plants are typically characterized by their vibrant yellow, white, or pink flowers that often open in the evening and close by morning, hence their common name.

The cultivation of ōuntes is widespread, and they are found in gardens and naturalized in many temperate regions worldwide. They are generally hardy plants that thrive in well-drained soil and full sun. Many species are biennial, meaning they complete their life cycle in two years, producing foliage in the first year and flowering and seeding in the second. Some varieties are perennial.

Beyond their aesthetic appeal, certain species of ōuntes have traditional uses. The seeds of Oenothera biennis are a source of evening primrose oil, a dietary supplement rich in gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), an omega-6 fatty acid. This oil is used in various health applications, although scientific evidence for its efficacy is mixed. The roots and leaves of some species have also been used in folk medicine.
