Õhusüsteeme, often translated as air systems or pneumatic systems, refers to the use of compressed air to perform mechanical work. These systems are widely employed in various industrial and commercial applications due to their reliability, simplicity, and safety. Compressed air is generated by compressors, then stored in reservoirs to maintain a constant pressure. This pressurized air is then conveyed through a network of pipes and hoses to actuators, such as cylinders and motors, which convert the air pressure into linear or rotary motion.

Control of these systems is typically achieved through valves, which regulate the flow and direction of compressed air to the actuators. Filters, dryers, and lubricators are often integrated into the system to ensure the air is clean, dry, and properly lubricated, thereby preventing damage to components and ensuring efficient operation. The inherent safety of pneumatic systems, as they do not produce sparks like electrical systems, makes them suitable for hazardous environments. Common applications include manufacturing automation, robotics, braking systems in vehicles, and power tools. Despite their advantages, pneumatic systems can be energy-intensive, as a significant amount of energy is lost during compression and leakage.
