Óenguss

Óenguss is a figure from Irish mythology, often associated with the Tuatha Dé Danann. He is typically depicted as a powerful sorcerer and a master of shapeshifting, particularly into the form of a bird, most commonly a swan. His name is often translated as "one choice" or "one vigor."

Óenguss is a prominent character in the tale "The Dream of Óenguss," where his story of love and pursuit is central. In this narrative, he falls deeply in love with a maiden who appeared to him in a dream, described as having beautiful swan wings. Determined to find her, he embarks on a quest, aided by his magical abilities and the intervention of his father, the Dagda.

His shapeshifting prowess allows him to travel great distances and overcome obstacles. He eventually locates the maiden, who is under a spell that transforms her into a swan for a year. Óenguss transforms himself into a swan as well, and together they fly to his dwelling at Brú na Bóinne.

Óenguss is also known as Aengus or Angus, and is sometimes referred to as Mac Óg, meaning "young son." He is associated with youth, beauty, love, and poetry. His character often embodies the magical and romantic aspects of Irish mythology.
