Ühiskonnateadused is the Estonian term for social sciences. It encompasses a broad range of academic disciplines that study human society and social relationships. These fields aim to understand how societies function, how individuals interact within them, and the factors that shape social structures, behaviors, and institutions.

Key disciplines within ühiskonnateadused include sociology, which examines the development, structure, interaction, and general culture of organized human groups; psychology, which studies the mind and behavior; anthropology, which explores human societies and cultures and their past and present development; political science, which analyzes systems of governance and political activity; economics, which deals with the production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services; and geography, particularly human geography, which focuses on the study of people and their relationship with their environment. The methods employed in ühiskonnateadused are diverse, ranging from quantitative research that uses statistical analysis of numerical data to qualitative research that involves methods such as interviews, observation, and textual analysis.
