Iskristalla is the Icelandic word for ice crystals. These are naturally occurring solid structures formed from water molecules in a crystalline arrangement. They are most commonly observed as snowflakes, which are individual ice crystals or aggregates of ice crystals that fall from the sky. The hexagonal symmetry of ice crystals is a direct consequence of the way water molecules arrange themselves when they freeze.
