äänialue
An äänialue, or sound area, refers to the range of frequencies that a particular sound source or auditory system can produce or perceive. In acoustics, it describes the spectrum of sound waves, typically measured in Hertz (Hz), which represents cycles per second. For a sound source, like a musical instrument or a human voice, the äänialue defines the lowest and highest frequencies it can generate. For instance, a bass guitar has a lower äänialue than a flute.
In the context of hearing, the äänialue refers to the range of frequencies an organism can detect.
