Ühistõenäosus

Ühistõenäosus refers to the probability of two or more events occurring together. In probability theory, this concept is crucial for understanding the relationships between different random phenomena.

The notation for the joint probability of two events, A and B, is P(A and B) or P(A ∩ B). For more than two events, say A, B, and C, it would be P(A and B and C) or P(A ∩ B ∩ C).

Calculating joint probability depends on whether the events are independent or dependent. If events A and B are independent, meaning the occurrence of one does not affect the probability of the other, then their joint probability is simply the product of their individual probabilities: P(A and B) = P(A) * P(B).

However, if events are dependent, the calculation involves conditional probability. The probability of A and B occurring is given by P(A and B) = P(A) * P(B|A), where P(B|A) is the conditional probability of event B occurring given that event A has already occurred.
