Ühendpooljuhte

Ühendpooljuhte, or compound semiconductors, are materials composed of two or more elements that exhibit semiconductor properties. Unlike elemental semiconductors such as silicon or germanium, which consist of a single element, compound semiconductors are formed by combining elements from different groups of the periodic table. Common examples include gallium arsenide (GaAs), indium phosphide (InP), and gallium nitride (GaN). These materials are synthesized with precise stoichiometric ratios to achieve desired electronic and optical characteristics.

The unique properties of ühendpooljuhte arise from the chemical bonding between the constituent elements. The different valencies and electronegativities of the elements influence the band gap, carrier mobility, and light-emitting or absorbing capabilities of the material.
