Újszülöttintenzív, often referred to as the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), is a specialized section of a hospital dedicated to providing critical care for newborn infants who are born prematurely or with serious health problems. These infants may require complex medical interventions and constant monitoring due to a variety of conditions.

The primary goal of the újszülöttintenzív is to stabilize fragile newborns, support their immature organ systems, and facilitate their growth and development. They utilize advanced medical equipment such as incubators, ventilators, and specialized monitors to manage the infants' needs. Incubators provide a controlled environment to maintain body temperature, while ventilators assist with breathing.
