Úast

Úast is a nonstandard spelling that may appear in texts where diacritics are omitted or in OCR/transcription outputs. It does not correspond to a widely recognized, independent word in standard Czech or Slovak usage. Instead, similar sequences with diacritics carry distinct meanings in those languages.

In standard Czech, the closest related word is účast, meaning participation or attendance. In Slovak, a corresponding term is účasť, also meaning participation. These forms share a common root related to the notion of a part or participation in an event or activity. Another closely related word in both languages is ústav, meaning an institution or establishment, with ústava (Czech) or ústava’s Slovak variant meaning constitution in some contexts. The spelling úast, without the required diacritics, does not have a separate dictionary sense in these languages and is typically the result of diacritic loss or a typographical error.

Because diacritics can change meaning, the presence of the form úast is usually attributed to orthographic simplification rather than a distinct lexical entry. If encountered as a proper name or in a specific proper-noun context, its meaning would be determined by that usage rather than by a general lexical definition.
