Öljynkiertoa refers to the circulation of oil within an engine. This is a vital process for the lubrication, cooling, and cleaning of engine components. Without proper oil circulation, an engine would quickly overheat and suffer catastrophic damage due to friction.

The oil circulation system typically begins with the oil pump, which draws oil from the oil sump or reservoir. This pump then forces the oil through an oil filter to remove any contaminants. After filtration, the oil is channeled through various passages within the engine block and cylinder head, reaching critical moving parts such as bearings, camshafts, and pistons. As the oil flows over these components, it reduces friction and dissipates heat.

The oil also plays a role in cleaning the engine by carrying away small particles of metal debris and combustion byproducts. This dirty oil then returns to the oil sump, where the cycle begins anew. Regular oil changes are essential to maintain the effectiveness of the oil circulation system, as old or degraded oil loses its lubricating and cleaning properties. Monitoring oil pressure is also important, as low pressure can indicate a problem with the oil pump or a leak in the system, potentially leading to engine damage.
