It refers to the airborne particles or gaseous state of oil that can be released during various industrial processes, mechanical operations, or from spills. This phenomenon occurs when oil is heated, agitated, or atomized, leading to its dispersion into the surrounding atmosphere.

The presence of öljyhöyryä can be a concern in workplaces, particularly in environments involving machinery, manufacturing, or oil handling. Inhalation of high concentrations of oil vapor can pose health risks, potentially leading to respiratory irritation, headaches, or nausea.
