Õhvedrustus

Õhvedrustus, also known as air suspension, is a type of automotive suspension system that uses compressed air springs instead of traditional coil springs. This system offers several advantages over conventional suspension, including a more comfortable ride and the ability to adjust the vehicle's ride height.

The core components of an air suspension system include an air compressor, a reservoir, air springs (often bellows-like), and valves that control the flow of air. The compressor draws in ambient air and stores it in the reservoir. When the vehicle's ride height needs to be adjusted or when encountering uneven terrain, sensors detect changes and signal the control unit. The control unit then directs the compressor to fill or release air from the air springs via the valves, thereby raising or lowering the vehicle.

This dynamic adjustment allows for a consistently smooth ride regardless of load variations. Furthermore, many air suspension systems offer selectable ride heights, enabling drivers to raise the vehicle for off-road clearance or lower it for improved aerodynamics and handling at higher speeds. While offering superior comfort and adjustability, air suspension systems are generally more complex and expensive than conventional suspension, and can be susceptible to leaks or component failure.
