Érzékeny

Érzékeny is a Hungarian adjective that denotes being easily affected by external stimuli or being emotionally reactive. It can describe a person who is emotionally sensitive or easily hurt, as well as physical sensitivity, such as skin or eyes that react to touch or irritants. The term also applies to abstract situations or topics that require tact because they may cause distress or offense, for example a “sensitive topic.”

In data and information-security contexts, the phrase “érzékeny adatok” is used to refer to data that require higher protection due to their nature, such as personal or health-related information. The word is formed from the root érz- (to feel, sense) with flexibility in its suffixes to produce adjectives; it relates to perception, sensation, and emotion. The typical comparative form is érzékenyebb, and the superlative is leg érzékeny.

Usage notes: érzékeny can describe people, body parts, or objects and situations. For people, synonyms or near-synonyms include érzékeny (in a general sense) and, depending on context, empatikus; the opposite is érzéketlen. In everyday language, it can carry a neutral, positive, or negative nuance: a person may be described as pleasantly sensitive, or as overly sensitive (gyakran pejoratív felhang nélkül is használható).
