Ärtyvä
Ärtyvä is a Finnish adjective that translates to irritable, sensitive, or touchy in English. It describes a state of being easily provoked or annoyed, often reacting with displeasure to minor stimuli. A person described as ärtyvä may be short-tempered and prone to complaining or expressing discontent. The term can be applied to a person's general disposition or to a temporary state brought on by circumstances such as stress, fatigue, or discomfort. It can also be used in a more metaphorical sense to describe things that are difficult to handle or prone to causing problems. For instance, a sensitive plant might be described as "ärtyvä" if it wilts easily or reacts negatively to touch. In a medical context, it could refer to an organ or tissue that is inflamed or oversensitive. The opposite of ärtyvä would be calm, placid, or easygoing.
