Ärritusreaktsioonid

Irritation reactions, or ärritusreaktsioonid in Estonian, are the body's physiological responses to harmful stimuli. These stimuli can be physical, chemical, or biological. The primary goal of an irritation reaction is to protect the body and initiate a healing process.

Common signs of irritation include redness, swelling, heat, and pain. These are all part of the inflammatory response, a crucial component of the immune system. Redness and heat are caused by increased blood flow to the affected area, which helps deliver immune cells and nutrients. Swelling occurs due to the accumulation of fluid and immune cells in the tissue. Pain serves as a warning signal, prompting the individual to protect the injured site.

The specific nature of an irritation reaction depends on the type and severity of the stimulus. For instance, a mild skin irritation from a scratch might result in localized redness and discomfort. In contrast, a severe chemical burn could trigger a more extensive and painful inflammatory response, potentially leading to tissue damage.
