Äriregister

Äriregister is the public registry of business entities in Estonia. It is maintained by the Centre of Registers and Information Systems (Riigi Infosüsteemi Keskus, RIK). The registry provides official information on companies, partnerships, and other legal entities and serves as the authoritative source for legal existence and status.

The Äriregister records data such as the entity’s name, registration number, legal form, registered address, description of activity, share capital, and information about owners, management, and auditors or supervisory bodies. It also tracks registration dates, changes in corporate structure, and insolvency or dissolution events. Financial statements and annual reports submitted by entities are stored and may be made publicly accessible where required.

Access to basic data is available to the public through the Äriregister online portal, and official extracts can be ordered for legal purposes. Personal data about individuals is protected by privacy rules; extracts may be limited or require consent in some cases. The register participates in international data exchanges with other EU member states to support cross-border business activity.

The Äriregister operates under Estonian law governing business registers and is part of the national framework for corporate transparency and compliance. It supports researchers, businesses, authorities, and the public in verifying corporate existence, ownership, and authority.
