Ärindu

Ärindu is a small rural village in the fictional Baltic nation of Nordmark, located in the southern part of Valgimaa Province along the Lõna River. It has about 320 residents and is part of the Nordmark municipal framework. The local economy centers on agriculture and forestry, with growing emphasis on small crafts and countryside tourism.

Geography and climate: Ärindu sits on rolling farmland interspersed with pine forests. The area has a temperate continental climate, with warm summers, cold winters, and moderate precipitation suitable for crops and timber.

History: The first written record of Ärindu dates to 1683, when it appeared as an estate. It developed around a manor in the 18th and 19th centuries and diversified in the 20th century as agriculture modernized. It joined Nordmark's municipal framework in the late 20th century.

Economy and infrastructure: The village relies on dairy and grain farming, timber, and local crafts. Services include a village shop, a small post office, and a community hall. It is connected by a regional road; rail access and frequent public transport are lacking.

Culture and administration: Landmarks include Ärindu Church (1720s) and nearby manor ruins. An annual Sügislaat autumn festival showcases local produce and music. Ärindu is governed within Nordmark Municipality by a village council, with cooperation among nearby villages through the Nordmark Rural League.
