Átstrukturálták

Átstrukturálták is a Hungarian verb form derived from the verb átstrukturálni, which means “to restructure” or “to reorganize.” It is the third person plural past tense, indicative, passive voice, presentive form, and translates in English as “they restructured” or “it was restructured.” The word is composed of át (a prefix meaning “through” or “across”), struktúra (“structure”), and the suffix -ál to form the verb. The past participle átstrukturált is then combined with the auxiliary verb –ák to indicate that the action was performed by an unnamed group in the past.

The term is used in corporate, governmental, educational and social contexts to describe a systematic alteration of the existing framework. For instance, a company might átstrukturált a vállalatát a piaci verseny erősödése miatt, meaning “the company restructured itself because of increasing competition.” In public administration, átstrukturált a helyi kormányzati szervezeti egységeket a költségcsökkentés céljából, “the local governmental units were restructured for cost reduction.”

Although átstrukturálás has been part of modern Hungarian since the 20th century, it entered common usage with the rise of industrial organization and later with public sector reforms. The participial form átstrukturálták preserves the verb’s original meaning while emphasizing the completion of the action. It is often found in legal documents, business reports, and news coverage relating to changes in organizational design.
