zushi

Zushi is a city in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. It lies on the coast of Sagami Bay, to the west of Kamakura and within the greater Tokyo metropolitan area.

The city sits on a coastal plain bounded by hills, with beaches along the Sagami Sea. The climate is humid subtropical, with hot summers and mild winters.

The area has historical roots as a fishing village and port. In the modern era it developed as a seaside resort and residential community, and it was established as a city in the late 20th century.

Today Zushi is largely a residential community for commuters to Tokyo and Yokohama, with local services and tourism related to the coast.

Zushi is served by a rail line operated by JR East, including Zushi Station on the Yokosuka Line, which provides direct access to Yokohama and Tokyo. Local buses connect the city to neighboring areas, and major coastal routes run along the shoreline.

The city operates several public elementary and middle schools. Cultural and recreational facilities include beaches that are popular for swimming and surfing, parks, and temples and shrines in the surrounding area.
