Zincirli Höyük is an archaeological mound in southern Turkey that is identified with the ancient Aramaean city-state of Sam'al, a Neo-Hittite polity that flourished in the early Iron Age after the collapse of the Hittite Empire. The site sits on a tell near the modern rural area close to the Syrian border, and its remains offer a clear record of urban life and monumental building in this frontier zone.

The occupation of Zincirli spans from the late Bronze Age into the Iron Age, with the Neo-Hittite phase dating roughly to the 10th through the 7th centuries BCE. Archaeological remains include a palace or administrative complex, a monumental gate, religious precincts, and numerous reliefs. Inscriptions found on stelae and building fragments are predominantly in an Aramaic-derived script and language, linking the site to the broader Neo-Hittite and Aramaean worlds and providing valuable information about royal succession, cult practices, and local governance.

Excavations at Zincirli began in the 19th and continued into the 20th and 21st centuries, involving Turkish and international teams. The campaigns have yielded richly carved sculptures, architectural remains, and a substantial corpus of inscriptions, making Zincirli one of the key sources for understanding Neo-Hittite culture and the interactions between Hittite, Aramaean, and Mesopotamian influences in southeastern Anatolia.

Today, Zincirli is a protected archaeological site and an important focus of ongoing research. Artifacts from the site are housed in Turkish museums, and the on-site ruins continue to attract scholars and visitors interested in the region’s ancient history.
