Zenerdiodisäätäjät, often referred to as Zener regulators, are electronic circuits that utilize the Zener diode's unique voltage-regulating properties. The core component, the Zener diode, is specifically designed to conduct current in the reverse direction when a certain voltage, known as the Zener voltage, is reached. This characteristic allows it to maintain a stable output voltage even as the input voltage or load current fluctuates.

A basic Zener regulator circuit consists of a Zener diode, a series resistor, and the load. The series resistor limits the current flowing through the Zener diode, protecting it from damage. When the input voltage exceeds the Zener voltage, the diode begins to conduct, shunting excess current away from the load. This action keeps the voltage across the load at or near the Zener voltage.
