Zatvorene is a small settlement located in the northern part of Slovenia, within the administrative boundaries of the Municipality of Oplotnik. The village sits at an elevation of approximately 500 metres above sea level and is surrounded by mixed coniferous and deciduous forests, characteristic of the alpine foothills in the region. The name Zatvorene derives from the Slavic root meaning “closed” or “enclosed,” a reference historically tied to the area’s forested terrain and its use as a defensive enclosure during medieval times.
