zachodzi

Zachodzi is a Polish verb form, most often encountered as the third-person singular present tense of the imperfective verb zachodzić. The core sense of zachodzić is to come to pass, to occur, or to move toward a state of completion. The form zachodzi is used with a masculine singular subject, for example: Słońce zachodzi. The same verb can describe the emergence of events or circumstances, especially in formal or descriptive prose, as in W tej sprawie zachodzą nowe okoliczności.

In addition to its figurative uses, zachodzić is also used in the literal sense of the sun setting. Słońce zachodzi nad horyzontem is a standard phrasing in everyday Polish. The verb is imperfective, emphasizing ongoing, habitual, or repeated action, and it forms standard past tense with regular endings (zachodziłem, zachodziła, zachodziło, etc.). Future tenses exist in compound forms, typically with auxiliary constructions, such as będę zachodzić.
