The Ministry of the Environment (Finnish: ympäristöministeriö, often abbreviated YM) is one of the Finnish Government's ministries. It is responsible for national environmental policy and the sustainable use of natural resources. Its remit covers climate policy and energy policy, nature conservation and biodiversity, water resources, and the land-use planning and housing policy.

The ministry drafts laws and regulations, sets policy directions, and coordinates government actions to protect the environment and promote sustainable development. It works with other ministries, municipalities, and state agencies to implement policies and monitor compliance. It also oversees international environmental cooperation and represents Finland in EU and global environmental negotiations.

The ministry administers or supervises agencies dealing with environmental data, research, and management, such as the Finnish Environment Institute (SYKE). It may support local authorities in carrying out environmental projects and ensures enforcement of environmental legislation.

The ministry is based in Helsinki and is led by the Minister of the Environment, who is appointed as part of the Finnish Government. The ministry's work includes promoting biodiversity protection, clean air and water, waste management, and resilient, low-carbon development.
