yVariablen are the dependent or response variables used in mathematical models, statistics, and data analysis. In most formulations their values depend on one or more explanatory variables, commonly denoted X-Variablen or features. The term is frequently encountered in German-language texts to distinguish the outcome variable from the independent variables.

In a typical model, y = f(x) + ε, where x represents the explanatory variables and ε is a random error term. In regression analysis, y is the variable being predicted or explained by the model; in experiments, it represents the observed outcome. The nature of y can vary: it may be numeric (continuous or discrete) or categorical (such as binary or multiclass outcomes).

Handling yVariablen involves addressing data quality and model assumptions. This includes dealing with missing values, measurement error, and transforming y to stabilize variance or meet modeling requirements (for example, applying a logarithmic or Box-Cox transformation).
